Gregg came to Colorado in 1983 from New Orleans. Shortly after arriving, he went into business for himself as a restaurateur. His claim to fame in those days was that his establishment was only the second place in town to have a cappuccino/espresso machine.

After selling the business, Gregg joined American City Business Journals and the staff of the Denver Business Journal, where he was the associate publisher. Gregg helped the paper to become the fastest growing business publication in the country. In 1993, his efforts were recognized by President Clinton when the paper won the Small Business Media Advocate of the Year Award.

Gregg majored in communications and business at Loyola University. He has received numerous awards for this professional and community activities. Among them, the American Eagle Award for excellence in journalism, Advertising and Marketing reviews 1995 up and coming media personality award, Denver's Silver Fame Award for the advancement of issues that affect women, and was named Colorado’s Small Business Media Advocate of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration 1999.
